Miss Cary and Miss Fox River Grove Pageant This Saturday

On Saturday, 10 dynamic young women will compete for the crown in the 2013 Miss Cary and Miss Fox River Grove Pageant.  The pageant will take place at Cary-Grove High School, 2208 Three Oaks Rd., Cary on Saturday, May 18 at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are $10.00 per adult or $5.00 for students/seniors and can be purchased in advance at the Chamber office, 445 Park Ave., Cary.

Chamber Office Summer Hours Begin Next Week

The Chamber Office will begin summer office hours starting Friday, May 24.  The office will be opened Monday-Thursdays from 9:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. and on Fridays from 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. The office will be closed on Monday, May 27 in observation of Memorial Day. The weekly email will be sent out on Tuesday, May 28.

 

Cary Farmers Market Opens June 2

The Chamber is excited for the opening of our third season of the Cary Farmers Market.

The Cary Farmers Market takes place every Sunday from June 2 through September 29 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the Metra Train lot at the intersection of High Rd. and W. Main St.  We have a fantastic list of vendors participating this season.  Also on the first Sunday of every month we will have special events and vendors at the market.  A special thank you to Cary Farmers Market Committee; Chuck Barrett of Frisch and Barrett Insurance, Joe McVicker of Cary Bank and Trust, Dave and Deb Evans of Evans Carpet Cleaning Plus, and Sue Jensen of Periwinkle Florist.

Soon you will be receiving your Fuel the Chamber raffle tickets.  Sell your tickets for $5.00 each, return your stubs and money to our office and you may be a winner of cash in one of our side raffles. The side raffle is for Chamber members only and if you sell tickets you are automatically entered for a chance to win $200.00, $100.00 or $50.00. Cary Grove Chamber 12th Annual Golf Outing

Join the Chamber on Friday, August 23 at Cary Country Club, 2400 Grove Ln., Cary for our annual Chamber Golf Outing.  This year our theme will be “Caddyshack!” The cost is $125.00 per golfer or $500.00 for a foursome. The Chamber golf outing is a scramble with a shotgun start at 9:00 a.m. Enjoy golf, breakfast, lunch and camaraderie while supporting the Cary-Grove Food Pantry. Participate in our most popular family day, SportsFest 2013, a community sports and fitness expo at the Feinberg Court Business District off of Route 14. The event will be held on Sunday, August 18 from 12:00 noon until 4:00 p.m. and brings out over 2,000 local families and residents for a day of free activities. Only health and fitness related businesses will be accepted and we have a limit of no more than 4 vendors per category. SportsFest also features booths from our local youth sports clubs, a kid’s obstacle course challenge hosted by New Balance Athletic Shoes CL, free rock climbing for kids, outdoor entertainment, food and more. This is a great opportunity for vendor visibility. The event is open to sports and fitness vendors, however, businesses who commit to a pro or skybox sponsorship can get booth space. Promote your business during our popular Cary Cruise Nights by being a Mini Business Expo vendor.  For $50.00 per night, you can set up a table on W. Cary Grove Referral Network is elated to report that their membership now stands at 22 businesses!  Many members shared a snack and conversation with members of the other two networking groups at the Maypole Mixer on Wednesday, May 1.  The event was pronounced a success!  Future happenings include a craft talk by Jay Cunningham at the Wednesday, May 15 meeting, concerning credit reports and how to read them, strategies to improve that number, and advice on many common concerns such as how long it takes to recover from a financial setback, in terms of credit score time. Cary Park District Hosts Photo Contest

The Cary Park District challenges area residents to enter their best shot in an amateur photo contest open to youth, teens, and adults. The rules are simple, as you enjoy your parks, facilities, and recreation programs, capture these moments on camera. Photos submitted must have been taken at Cary Park District parks, facilities or during a Cary Park District recreation program or special event. All photos will be displayed at the end of June and during the month of July to commemorate National Recreation and Parks month. Memorial Day Vigil to Honor Our Military

The Veterans Network Committee of Northern Illinois, a non-profit organization, is hosting an event at Lake Julian, Rte. 14, Cary during the weekend of Saturday, May 25 through Monday, May 27. The event is a 48 hour Memorial Day vigil to honor those soldiers who gave their lives in the Iraq and Afghanistan conflicts.  There will 320 American flags flown at the event to honor fallen soldiers.  An Honor Guard will be posted at the event and names of the deceased will be read every hour. Sneak Peak of 2012-2013 Season at the Raue Center For The Arts

Raue Center For The Arts, 26 N. Williams St., Crystal Lake is pleased to announce a sneak peek of their 2013-2014 Season. Highlights include national acts like Richard Marx on Saturday, June 19, Peter Yarrow’s rescheduled concert on Saturday, July 27 and Ben Vereen on Saturday, September 21. Events Happening at Three Oaks Assisted Living

There are two events coming up at Three Oaks Assisted Living, 1055 Silver Lake Rd., Cary.  The first event is on Tuesday, May 14 and they will present Wounded Warrior: Their Last Battle with presenter Andy Balafas. Registration begins at 5:30 p.m. and the presentation is from 6:00-7:00 pm. McHenry County Youth Orchestras Spring Celebration

On Sunday, May 19 at 4:00 p.m. the McHenry County Youth Orchestras will be hosting their “Spring Celebration” concert.  The musical concert will feature Amy Lian on piano and Iavor Boykov on violin. 10th Annual GiGi's Playhouse Dash for Down Syndrome

Join GiGi’s Playhouse of McHenry on Sunday, June 9 for their annual 5k Fun Run, 1 Mile Walk and the Dash for Down syndrome taking place at the Arboretum, 100 W. Higgins Rd., South Barrington. Guests and families will also enjoy a DJ, inflatable bounce houses, face painting, food, refreshments, and more! Registration costs are $15.00 per person (under 12), $25.00 per person (until June 7) and $35.00 per person (after June 7).  They are also looking for adult, junior high and high school student volunteers to help run the event. McHenry County State’s Attorney’s Office Hosts the Illinois Gaming Board

Louis A. The Veterans Network Committee will be hosting their first annual golf outing on Thursday, July 18 at the Cary County Club, 2400 Grove Ln., Cary. The cost is $90.00 per golfer. Cary Cruise Night 2013 Summer Season Begins Wednesday, June 5

The Cary Grove Chamber is gearing up for the 2013 Summer Season of Cary Cruise Night.  Noted as one of the “Best Cruise Nights” around, Cary Cruise Night is held each Wednesday from June 5 through August 28 from 6:00 to 8:30p.m. in downtown Cary at W. Main Street off the intersection of Route 14 (Northwest Highway) and W. Main. Downtown Cary is the perfect setting for Cruise Night with its collection of great restaurants including The Tracks Bar & Grill, Galati’s Pizza & Pasta, The Buddha Bean and more. W. Main Street is closed from Spring St. to High Rd and available to Cruise Night Show Car parking only.  During the event there is lots to do -- free raffles for attendees, chances to win free dining gift certificates, Burger Eating Contests hosted by The Tracks, free giveaways and music by Stax O Wax DJ.  An added bonus, come out for our Mini Business Expos on June 5 and 19, July 10 and August 7 and 21.

Each Wednesday there is a special car theme.  Themes are for judging only and trophies and ribbons are awarded.  Some of our popular themes include Corvette Night on June 12 and again on August 21, Mustang/Ford/Cobra Night on June 19, Convertible Night on July 10 and others.   The complete list of Cary Cruise Night themes is listed below.

TO ANGLE PARK IT ON W. MAIN ST.  Please try to leave W. Main Street Show parking open to theme cars where possible.  No For Sale Signs can be displayed on Show Cars.  W. Main St. is closed to Show Sars only but parking for the public is available in the lot behind BMO Harris and in the Metra Train Lots for free. DRIVERS, PLEASE BE AT YOUR CAR PROMPTLY AT 8:30 P.M. TO RETURN YOUR CAR TO THE PARALLEL PARKING POSITION.  W.
