Chamber awards business scholarships to area students~Ashley Miskiewicz and Tommy Breen
Local Students Win Chamber Scholarships
The Cary Grove Area Chamber of Commerce recently awarded two $1,000 business scholarships to local students. The awards are intended to encourage area students to pursue college interests that might impact local business.
“Over the years the Chamber has given away more than $30,000 in scholarship awards to local high school students who are pursing business related studies,” said Chamber Executive Director Suzanne Corr. “We are proud to make this investment in our local youth who may someday become future business professionals and owners right in our community. We specifically look for students that may want to bring their skills back to the Cary Grove area.”
This year’s recipients of $1,000 scholarships each were Ashley Miskiewicz and Tommy Breen. Ashley will be attending McHenry County College to pursue a career as a pastry chief and hopes to open a local business. Tommy will be attending Luther College and studying business and communications.
Each spring the Cary Grove Chamber awards scholarship monies to local high school students. A fill list of award winners throughout the years can be found on the Chamber website at www.carygrovechamber.com. The Chamber’s Scholarship Fund is supported through donations from local businesses. True Value Manufacturing is a major contributor of the Scholarship Fund. The annual Garden Walk is the largest fundraiser for the fund. The Chamber also makes contributions from the proceeds from Cary Cruise Nights and other activities.
