Several local high school girls have signed up to compete in the 2010 Miss Cary and Miss Fox River Grove Business Scholarship Pageant. The event will be held on Saturday, May 22 at 7 p.m. at Cary-Grove High School. The Pageant is sponsored by True Value Manufacturing and Wickstrom Auto Group. Winners of the Pageant receive business scholarships from the Chamber and various other prizes.

Tickets for the Business Scholarship Pageant are now on sale. The cost is $10 for adults and $5 for seniors and students. They can be purchased at the Cary Grove Area Chamber of Commerce office at 27 E. Main Street, or through one of the Pageant contestants.

Seven girls are vying for the title of 2010 Miss Cary including Jaclyn Breen sponsored by H & R Block, Annie Gleason sponsored by Kojak’s Restaurant, Sarah Kedzior sponsored by Cary-Grove Performing Arts Centre, Claire Kelly sponsored by Dunkin’ Donuts, Hayley McNamee sponsored by Cary Dairy Queen, Megan O’Connor sponsored by Johnson Eye Care, and Kalee Ryan sponsored by The Goddard School. Candidates running for Miss Fox River Grove include Samantha Baratta sponsored by Wickstrom Auto Group, Jessica Huff sponsored by Merle Norman Cosmetics, Tara Lauritsen sponsored by Stone Hill Shopping Center, and Taylor Weber sponsored by Sage Products, Inc.

The process leading up to the Queen Pageant is designed to provide the contestants with valuable communication and speaking skills and knowledge about local business. They are formally introduced to the business community and area leaders, get involved in community service, and are trained in speaking and presentation skills. The evening of the Pageant the contestants participate in an evening gown competition, an interview session and give a presentation on their business sponsor. The May 22 Pageant will be the last official duty of 2009 Miss Cary, Alizabeth Loch, and 2009 Miss Fox River Grove, Nina Mack.

The Pageant Committee consists of Lisa Raupp of Mary Kay Cosmetics, Ellen McAlpine of Woodfield Planning Corp., Kelly Miller of Coldwell Banker Primus Realty, Cindy Scheitlin of CAbi Carol Anderson by Invitation Designer Women’s Fashions, Wendy Franz of R & W Construction Custom Home Remodeling, Cindy Heidemann of ABC School of Cosmetology & Nail Technology.
