Home of the Sparrow 25th Anniversary Gala Celebration a Success!
On May 19, 2012, Home of the Sparrow celebrated 25 years of providing transitional shelter and supportive services to homeless women and children. Over 350 people attended the event which was held at The Sanfilippo Mansion in Barrington Hills. Home of the Sparrow premiered its’ new agency video which was made possible by a grant from The Mental Health Resource League for McHenry County. The audience heard real life stories of courage from women who exited the program and who are currently living independently in the community.
“The event raised approximately $193,000! We are truly grateful for all the support, which will make a difference in the lives of the many women and children living in our shelters and apartments,” stated Nancy Hiatt, CEO and President of Home of the Sparrow. “The women who come to us are often broken in spirit and the children are frightened and confused. Each year, through our shelters and apartment programs, we serve an average of 100 residents; more than 65% of whom are children. Our mission is to provide Hope, Opportunity and Support that empowers women and children, as they journey from homelessness to self-sufficiency.”
