2018 Fox River Grove Receives Public Works Project of the Year Award

FOX RIVER GROVE Village officials accepted a Public Works Project of the Year Award yesterday for the construction of its public works facility. The award was given by the American Public Works Association (APWA) Fox Valley Branch in the structures under $5 Million category. Village President Robert J. Nunamaker, for whom the facility is named, stated, “we are very proud of our new public works facility. This award recognizes all the efforts everyone involved with the planning, design and construction of this quality facility.” With this designation by the APWA Fox Valley Branch, the project will now be considered by the APWA Chicago Metro Chapter in the same category. The new public works facility has proven to be a major asset to the Public Works department, and the community generally, thanks to the improvements it facilitated across the operation in terms of efficiency, safety, training, and effectiveness. The new facility also came with substantially reduced cost to the Village compared to the initial plans for the structure on County Line Road. “Through the efforts of the Village Board and staff, what was originally going to be an $8 Million facility was reduced to $3.9 Million. The relocation of the project to Lincoln Avenue and the right-sizing of the new public works facility saved approximately $4 Million. This project was a big win for the Village” said President Nunamaker. The project team included Village officials, Kluber Architects + Engineers, Engineering Resource Associates, and Lamp Incorporated.
