Help Your Child Navigate through High School

D155 Hosts 10th Annual Parent University Event

Current and future D155 parents have an opportunity to attend free sessions that focus on academics and social-emotional health to successfully guide their children through their high school years. D155 will host its annual Parent University on Saturday, February 17 at Cary-Grove High School from 8:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.

This year’s keynote presentation focuses on purposeful parenting. Jackie Rhew, LCPC, CADA, is the cofounder for Center for Emotional Wellness of the Northwest Suburbs. She served as Assistant Director for seven years for the School Anxiety/School Refusal Program at Alexian Brothers Behavioral Health Hospital in Hoffman Estates, a program she was instrumental in creating and developing. Jackie provides training locally and nationally on topics including anxiety, school refusal, parenting, and self-injury.

Parents will then have options to attend three different sessions that cover a variety of topics including navigating high school, the college process, financial aid and scholarships, study skills, and social conflict.

The course booklet and registration forms are available on the district’s website, www.d155.org; the deadline to register is Friday, February 16.
