COMMUNITY GARDEN PLOTS AVAILABLE THIS SPRING
Cary, Illinois – Don’t have space in your yard for a garden but love the idea of
growing your own nutritious food for your family? Now is the time to sign-up for an
opportunity to grow your own fresh vegetables in the upcoming spring/summer
    season.

Growing your own garden is a wonderful family project and a hands-on approach to
teaching your children about their food supply, nurturing plants and the joy of eating
food they grew themselves. Community garden plots at Hoffman Park are now
available for rent. Gardeners may rent a 20 x 30 foot garden plot and grow their own
fruits, vegetables, herbs, plants, and flowers for the 2018 season.

Garden plots are available on a first-come, first-served basis with rental fees ranging
from $42 - $75 for the season. Rentals are taken at the Cary Park District
Community Center, 255 Briargate Road, Cary.

If you don’t want to raise a garden yourself, but would still like an opportunity to
share the experience with your children then volunteer!! The Cary Park District also
hosts six demonstration gardens at Hoffman Park. The demonstration gardens are
maintained by local volunteers where all of the harvest is donated to the Cary Grove
Food Pantry. Last year over 1,000 pounds of organic produce was harvested from

the demonstration gardens and donated to the Cary Food Pantry to help families in
    the area.

For more information on the Community Garden guidelines for use or to volunteer at
the Demonstration Gardens, contact the Cary Park District at (847) 639-6100 or visit
    carypark.com.
